Director of Kangnam University’s German School of Music Weimar Yang Woo Hyung will give a solo piano recital at Sejong Center’s Chamber Hall this Sunday 24 August at 7:30 pm.
The evening will be a varied program consisting of Mozart’s Sonate KV332 F-major, Ravel’s Sonatine in F-sharp minor, Beethoven’s The Tempest in D-minor, and Chopin’s Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise in E-flat major. “Each of the four composers have their own brilliant colors,” Yang explains, “but the colors are translucent. When listening to them one may imagine a palette of watercolors, which I hope to present.”
Yang wants to provide solace to her listeners, giving them love and healing their hearts. But such a task requires rigorous preparation and focus. “Before any concert I try to purify my heart to be able to absorb the music. Only then can I make it mine for me to give to the audience.”
